According to research by the internet consultancy firm Envisional, the top five box office movies in the UK were illegally downloaded 1.5 million times last year at a cost to the industry of £170 million. The film industry is not alone as there is a big rise in the number of television episodes being illegally downloaded. There appears to be four main reasons for the increase, Quicker downloads, easier to find content, sooner availability and an online generation who see no wrong in illegally downloading copyright material.
